Background

Razor is a 4-star claymore user from the region of Mondstadt. He has a vision of Electro. Razor first appears within the game when the Traveler and Paimon journey toward Wolvendom.
Not much is known about the history of Razor. Some say he was orphaned at a young age and some say he is an embodiment of a wolf spirit. Razor currently lives among the wolves in Wolvendom, who he views as his pack. He rarely interacts with humans and has poor communication skills as a result. Razor will often speak in broken sentences, but is always honest with his words.
Fun Fact: Razor does not like vegetables. He prefers to eat meat.
Razor received his vision to protect his wolf friends from the Abyss Order. He managed to defeat and drive them off, but it was too late for his friends. Razor swore to get stronger to better protect his friends in the future. When he first obtained his vision, Razor did not know how to control it. It wasn’t until the Librarian Lisa helped him study his powers that his skills improved. Razor will jump to the aid of anyone that needs help. He doesn’t want anyone, especially his friends, to get hurt.
Razor Skill Talents
Razor’s skill set allows him to be a powerful Main DPS with access to Physical and Electro DMG with the help of his burst. Energy recharge is also not a problem for him because of his elemental skill granting him access to the Electro Sigil, boosting his energy recharge by up to 60%.
Razor’s normal attack, Steel Fang, unleashes up to 4 attacks with his claymore. His charged attack will spin his claymore around to deal damage to surrounding enemies in exchange for stamina. Even for a claymore user, Razor’s normal attack has one of the strongest damage output in the game. At level 1, his hits will deal 95.9% DMG on the first attack to 136% DMG on the fourth hit. His attack speed is also faster than an average claymore user.
Razor’s elemental skill, Claw and Thunder, has a press and hold effect.

The press effect will allow Razor to swing his claymore and deal Electro DMG to enemies in front of him. Razor will gain 3 energy particles if he hits 1 enemy with his press effect. After hitting an enemy with his elemental skill, Razor will gain an Electro Sigil, which will increase his energy recharge by 20% for each sigil. He can have up to 3 Electro Sigil and they will last 18 seconds. When Razor gains a new sigil, the duration of all his sigils will refresh. The cooldown of his press effect is 6 seconds, allowing Razor to have a max stack of Electro Sigil after 12 seconds. The Electro Sigils will not transfer to other characters.

The hold effect on his elemental skill will allow Razor to unleash massive amounts of Electro energy and damage enemies in a small AoE. All of his Electro Sigil will be consumed after using his hold effect, but will be exchanged for energy. Razor will get 5 energy regenerated and can have up to 15 energy restored. The cooldown of his hold effect is 10 seconds. Using his hold effect will depend on the amount of energy you need to regain or the amount of damage you need to deal.
Razor’s elemental skill is great to recharge energy for his elemental burst and deal Electro DMG at the same time. The cooldowns are also pretty short, allowing Razor to constantly unleash Electro DMG and gain an Electro Sigil.

Razor’s elemental burst, Lightning Fang, summons Razor’s inner wolf spirit, Wolf Within, to deal Electro DMG to surrounding enemies when cast. It will clear all Electro Sigils, converting them into energy for his burst.
The Wolf Within will give Razor the following buffs:
- Razor’s normal attack will deal Electro DMG alongside his physical attacks.
- Increase to Razor’s ATK SPD and Electro RES.
- Immunity to Electro-Charged DMG.
- Increases resistance to interruption.
The duration will last for 15 seconds or if Razor leaves the field. If Razor switches to another character when his burst is in effect, up to 10 energy will be regained to him based on the amount of time left in his burst. Razor’s charged attack will also be disabled during the duration of his elemental burst. The energy cost is 80, but Razor’s elemental skill minimizes the high energy cost with the effects of his Electro Sigils. The cooldown is 20 seconds. Razor’s burst makes it harder for Electro DMG to hit Razor. It gives him a nice buff to deal more damage as the Main DPS. This burst will also give Razor the Electro status, allowing him to clean himself of other elements.
In co-op play, Razor is best used to deal damage to the enemies. He is able also to resist Electro attacks and can dish out physical attacks against the enemies. He doesn’t have any support skills at C0 that will boost his teammates and will have to rely on his party to heal. At C4, he is able to debuff enemy defenses, helping other teammates deal more damage with their normal attack talent.
Razor Passive Talents

Razor’s passive talents allow him to recharge his burst and decrease the cooldown of his elemental skill. He also provides a sprinting buff for the entire team while in the party.
Razor’s passive talent, Wolvensprint, will decrease the party’s sprinting stamina consumption by 20% if Razor is in the party. This talent will allow your entire party to sprint more often in the overworld. It is also great in battle as you can evade enemy attacks without consuming a lot of stamina. Razor and Kaeya share similar passive talents, so it is not recommended to have them on the same team. Only one of their passive talents will provide the buff to the team and it does not stack.
Razor’s ascension 1 talent, Awakening, decreases the cooldown of his elemental skill by 18%. This talent will roughly bring down his elemental skill cooldown by 1-1.8 seconds, depending on if your use the press or hold effect. Using Razor’s elemental burst will also reset the cooldown of his elemental skill. It is great to reduce the cooldown of his elemental skill and build up his Electro Sigils.
Razor’s ascension 4 talent, Hunger, increases his energy recharge by 30% when his energy is below 50%. This ascension talent works well with his other skills to greatly minimize the high energy cost of his elemental burst. It does require him to have less than 40 energy, but will give Razor an immense boost to his energy recharge when combined with his Electro Sigils.
Razor will get a Physical DMG Bonus based on his ascension rank.
Wolvensprint Unlocked Automatically Decreases sprinting Stamina consumption of your characters in the party by 20%. Not stackable with Passive Talents that provide the exact same effects. |
Awakening Unlocked at Ascension 1 Decreases Claw and Thunder’s CD by 18%. Using Lightning Fang resets the CD of Claw and Thunder. |
Hunger Unlocked at Ascension 4 When Razor’s Energy is below 50%, increases Energy Recharge by 30%. |
Razor Constellations

Razor’s skill set is best suited for the Main DPS on your team. At C0, he doesn’t have any support skills and will need to rely on teammates to heal and buff him. At C4, Razor is able to debuff the enemy’s DEF himself. I recommend he is at least C4 for you to get the DEF debuff. C1 is also doable for Razor as it will boost his damage output if he grabs an elemental orb or particle.
At C1: Wolf’s Instinct, Razor’s DMG will increase for 8 seconds after picking up an elemental orb or particle. This constellation effect will help boost Razor’s damage output as the Main DPS. Razor will be required to pick up the elemental orbs and particles himself.
C2: Suppression will increase Razor’s Crit Rate by 10% against enemies with less than 30% of their health. This restriction is situational in battle and requires the enemies’ health to be greatly reduced before it can activate. It does serve as a great finishing attack if you need an extra buff to defeat an enemy.
At C4: Bite, Razor’s elemental skill will decrease the DEF of enemies by 15% for 7 seconds. This debuff will only affect enemies attacked when his press effect is cast. This isn’t a problem as his press effect has a 6-second cooldown, allowing Razor to reliably debuff enemy DEF. This is the only support skill that Razor has in his skillset. It will allow himself and other allies to deal more damage.
When you unlock Razor’s C6: Lupus Fulguris, his sword will unleash Electro DMG with his normal attack every 10 seconds. This Electro DMG will strike down enemies with 100% of his ATK stat. In addition, this lightning strike will grant Razor 1 Electro Sigil. At C6, Razor is able to unlock his full damage output with his normal attack. The time limit of 10 seconds isn’t the best, but is powerful enough to deal 1 massive Electro blow to the enemy.
Constellation Levels | Effects |
---|---|
C1: Wolf’s Instinct | Picking up an Elemental Orb or Particle increases Razor’s DMG by 10% for 8s. |
C2: Suppression | Increases CRIT Rate against opponents with less than 30% HP by 10%. |
C3: Soul Companion | Increases the level of Lightning Fang by 3. Maximum level is 15. |
C4: Bite | When casting Claw and Thunder (Press), opponents hit will have their DEF decreased by 15% for 7s. |
C5: Sharpened Claws | Increases the level of Claw and Thunder by 3. Maximum level is 15. |
C6: Lupus Fulguris | Every 10s, Razor’s sword charges up, causing the next Normal Attack to release lightning that deals 100% of Razor’s ATK as Electro DMG. When Razor is not using Lightning Fang, a lightning strike on an opponent will grant Razor an Electro Sigil for Claw and Thunder. |
Recommended Builds
Main DPS Razor

This build for Razor will focus on his Physical DMG. As a Main DPS, Razor’s main damage will come from his normal attack. You can also build up his elemental burst, but that will be treated as a bonus, in addition to the damage he already deals. Razor’s elemental skill is optional, but is necessary to trigger the Superconduct reaction and obtain Electro Sigils to recharge his burst. Maxing out his elemental skill will be based on your preference as you can trigger the Superconduct and obtain the sigils without worrying about damage.
For Razor’s team composition, I recommend having a Cryo character in the team to help trigger the Superconduct reaction with Razor. This reaction will deal Cryo DMG to the enemies and reduce their Physical RES by 50%. Ganyu is a powerful Cryo character with an AoE blast that will deal damage to enemies in a large radius. Diona can provide a shield and heal with her burst. She can be replaced with Qiqi. Having two Cryo characters will give the entire team the Cryo resonance, boosting the Crit Rate against enemies affected by Cryo. It will also help them charge their bursts faster. Bennett will be used as support as his burst can increase Razor’s ATK and heal him. He can be replaced with another support character like Xingqiu. I don’t recommend having two Electro characters in Razor’s case. Razor already has a high-energy recharge because of his elemental skill.
Razor’s recommended weapon is the Wolf’s Gravestone and the Prototype Archaic. The Wolf’s Gravestone is a 5-star weapon, which might be difficult to obtain. This weapon will Razor’s ATK. It will also increase the Base ATK for the entire party if Razor hits an enemy with less than 30% of their health. The Prototype Archaic on the other hand is a 4-star weapon that can be crafted from the blacksmith. This weapon will also increase ATK and has a chance to deal additional ATK DMG when Razor uses a normal or charged attack. Both of these weapons are great for any Main DPS claymore users.
The 5-star Skyward Pride can also be used. However, it has an energy recharge increase that Razor does not need.
With two Cryo characters in the team, the 4-star Snow-Tombed Starsilver can be another viable weapon for Razor. This 4-star weapon can be crafted and increases Razor’s Physical DMG. It can also deal additional damage by dropping an icicle on enemies after Razor uses his normal or charged attack. If enemies are affected by Cryo, then they are dealt additional ATK DMG.
If you want to focus more on critical hits, the 4-star Serpent Spine may be the best option for you. This weapon can only be obtained from the battle pass, so it is not F2P. Razor will get a boost to his DMG every 4 seconds he is on the field, but will also receive more damage. This effect can stack up to 5 times. This weapon is great if Razor manages to remain undamaged or the effects will disappear. Having a shield generator like Diona will be crucial to the success of this weapon.
I don’t recommend the Blackcliff Slasher because it is expensive to refine and will not work in boss fights. Its Crit DMG bonus is great, but you will be faced with a situational passive effect that requires you to defeat an enemy before it can activate.
For the early game, I recommend using the Skyrider Greatsword because it gives Razor a Physical DMG Bonus. The Debate Club can also be used and will allow Razor’s normal attack to deal more damage after using his elemental skill.
Razor’s recommended artifact set is the 4-piece Gladiator’s Finale. This artifact set for Razor will give him an ATK% increase and boost the damage of his normal attack. The bonus is also unconditional and will always be in effect. You can also go for a 2-piece Bloodstained Chivalry and Gladiator’s Finale to boost Razor’s Physical DMG and ATK.
For the early game, you can go for a 4-piece Martial Artist or a 2 piece Brave Heart & Berserker. The Martial Artist will power up Razor’s normal attack damage, while the Brave Heart & Berserker will boost his ATK% and Crit Rate.
The main stats on his artifacts should be:
- Sands: ATK%
- Goblet: Physical DMG Bonus%
- Circlet: Crit DMG or Crit Rate
The sub-stats you should focus on are: Crit DMG, Crit Rate, ATK%, & ATK. Energy recharge isn’t necessary for Razor.
Shield DPS Razor

This Razor build relies on him having a shield and benefiting from the 4-piece bonus of the Retracing Bolide artifact set. It is similar to his Main DPS build, but requires a shield creator on the team.
For his teammates, you will want to have two Geo characters to get the Geo resonance. This resonance will increase Razor’s DMG and shield strength while he is protected by a shield. Zhongli is a great support with access to a shield with his elemental skill. He can be replaced with Noelle. Albedo’s elemental skill can deal massive Geo DMG to enemies every 2 seconds. He can be replaced with Ningguang. Diona will provide Cryo reactions to trigger superconduct and reduce the physical defenses of enemies. She can also be used to heal the team and provide extra shielding against the enemy. She can be replaced with Qiqi.
For Razor’s recommended weapon, the 5-star The Unforged will synergize well with this build. It has a secondary effect in ATK and will also increase Razor’s ATK up to 5 times after hitting an enemy. This weapon is great for this build because it relies on Razor having a shield. The Unforged will boost Razor’s shield strength and give him an extra boost in ATK when protected.
The 4-star Serpent Spine from the battle pass is another great option for this Razor build. This weapon will increase Razor’s DMG every 4 seconds he is on the field, but will also increase the damage he takes. This effect will stack up to 5 times. This buff for Razor won’t disappear when he leaves the field, and will only reset when Razor takes damage. The Serpent Spine and a shield build for Razor work well together and gives Razor the protection he needs to reliably keep the buff from this weapon.
If you don’t have access to this weapon, the 4-star Prototype Archaic will make a nice substitute. It can be crafted from the blacksmith and will increase Razor’s ATK.
Razor’s recommended artifact set is the 4-piece Retracing Bolide. This artifact set will increase Razor’s shield strength and boost his normal attack damage while protected by a shield. The success of this build will depend on your ability to always have a shield on Razor. If you are unable to keep the uptime of his shield, Razor’s damage output will suffer and he will lose the bonuses from the Retracing Bolide.
The main stats for his artifacts:
- Sands: ATK%
- Goblet: Physical DMG Bonus%
- Circlet: Crit DMG or Crit Rate
The sub-stats should be: Crit DMG, Crit Rate, ATK%, & ATK.
Recommended Party Members
Bennett is an overall great support character. His burst will increase Razor’s ATK and heal him. He can be replaced with another support character.
Ganyu has a wide AoE burst that can deal Cryo DMG to enemies in a large radius. Her charged attack can also apply Cryo to enemies.
Diona can provide a shield and heal Razor. She is also great to trigger Superconduct with Razor. She can be replaced with Qiqi.
Albedo will provide the Geo resonance with Zhongli. He also has a powerful elemental skill that can deal Geo DMG every 2 seconds.
Zhongli’s elemental skill can generate a shield. The uptime of his shield allows Razor to always have a shield if it doesn’t get destroyed first.
Advantages | Disadvantages |
---|---|
Powerful normal attack talent | No support skill until C4 |
Electro Sigils provide energy for his burst | Razor needs to stay on the field or else his burst disappears |
Elemental burst gives increased damage and attack speed | Electro DMG will be lacking due to Physical DMG Build |
Recommended Domains: Taishan Mansion, Domain of Guyun, Stormterror, Childe, Boreas, Peak of Vindagnyr, Cecilia Garden, Forsaken Rift
Conclusion

Razor is a great physical attacker, with access to one of the strongest normal attack talent in the game. As a claymore user, Razor’s attacks hit hard, but slower than most weapons types. He is best used as the Main DPS, as he does not have any support skills until constellation 4. Razor’s constellation is also needed to boost his damage output.

Another good Cryo support for Razor is Rosaria. Her elemental skill teleports her behind the target (doesn’t work with large enemies) and increases her Crit Rate by 12% for a few seconds, and her elemental burst – together with her second passive talent – gives a crit rate boost to all party members equal to 15% of her crit rate. Rosaria should be built with 100+ Crit Rate for maximum effect. This allows you to build Razor with less Crit Rate and focus more on ATK and/or Crit DMG.
Also, having two Pyro characters on the team gives a +25% ATK bonus from resonance, although with this option you’re limited/forced to have only one Cryo support (in which Diona fits awesomely).
If you see that Razor takes lots of damage, despite your best efforts to keep him away from harm, Noelle’s Devotion passive talent works wonders for survivability. She only needs to be in the team and have high DEF – once the active character gets to 30% HP or below, a Geo shield with strength equal to 400% of Noelle’s DEF and 150% efficiency vs all elements and physical damage will automatically spawn on the active character, and last for about 15 seconds or until destroyed (the shield can only activate once every 60 seconds, though).
