rosaria build
Rosaria in Dragonspine

Rosaria is a 4-star Cryo pole-arm user from the region of Mondstadt. She first appears within the story where she watches over the Traveler in his journey across Dragonspine to determine if he is a threat to Mondstadt.

Although she is one of the sisters of the Church of Favonius, Rosaria does not partake in the church’s activities. Her belief in the divine has also been called into question in the past. Despite being lectured many times for her ways, Rosaria continues to skip out on her holy duties. She is a mystery to the people of Mondstadt and prefers to work in the shadows.

Despite appearing to be lazy on the outside, Rosaria is devoted to keeping the city of Mondstadt safe from harm. She can be best described as cold and willing to do whatever is necessary to finish the job.

Rosaria was taken from her village at a young age by a raid of bandits. She was forced to endure life as their servant until the Knights of Favonius wiped them out. The Acting Grandmaster Varka bought her back to Mondstadt and had her join the church. He had hoped that she would learn to forget her old ways as a bandit and be cleansed by the teachings of the Anemo Archon.

Rosaria received her Cryo vision after fleeing from the bandit that took her away. She was driven to run away after being forced to starve in the harsh nights of Mondstadt. One of her captors bought her back and forced her into a duel for her freedom. No one had expected her to win against one of the elders of the bandits. However, to everyone’s surprise, she overwhelmed the old man and came out in victory with a vision in her hands.

Rosaria Skill Talents

At her base level, Rosaria is able to deal powerful physical attacks and also provide Cryo support for her teammates with an added Crit Rate Bonus. She can be used as either a physical attacker or a Cryo burst support character.

rosaria normal attack build
Rosaria normal attack

Rosaria’s normal attack, Spear of the Church, will perform up to 5 strikes with her pole-arm. The first and fourth attack in her animation cycle will hit the hardest. Her level upscaling for this talent is also pretty high compared to other pole-arm users like Xiangling. As a physical DPS, Rosaria will rely on this talent and should be paired with an Electro character to make use of the Superconduct reaction to lower the enemies’ physical defenses.

Rosaria Elemental Skill

Rosaria’s elemental skill, Ravaging Confession, will allow her to move behind enemies and slash them with her pole-arm, dealing Cryo DMG in the process. This ability is great against smaller enemies to strike them from behind. Due to her ascension 1 skill, Rosaria will immediately gain a 12% increase to her Crit Rate after striking behind an enemy with her skill. There is a main disadvantage to her elemental skill as she can not use it to get behind large enemies or bosses. This skill has a cooldown of 6 seconds, allowing Rosaria to easily use this skill multiple times in a battle.

rosaria burst build
Rosaria Elemental Burst

Her elemental burst, Rites of Termination, will let rosaria swing her pole-arm and summon an ice lance to slam into the ground. Her ice lance will periodically deal Cryo DMG to surrounding enemies. It has a cooldown of 15 seconds, but will last for 8 seconds. Activating her burst requires 60 energy. With her ascension 2 talent, her elemental skill can increase nearby teammate’s Crit Rate by up to 15%. Her elemental burst will be important in a support build, as you will want to gain the Crit Rate buff for your party members as much as possible. Rosaria’s burst also has a wide range, allowing her to easily reach enemies from a distance and even at lower altitudes.

In co-op, Rosaria can be a versatile character with the ability to specialize in dealing physical or Cryo damage. She also has a great support talent that will increase her team’s Crit Rate.

Rosaria Passive Talents

should I roll for Rosaria?
Rosaria Talent Screen

Rosaria’s ascension talents give both her party and herself a Crit Rate increase. Her passive talent also allows your team to move quickly during the night. Overall, her skillset heavily relies on her ascension talents due to its Crit Rate Bonus.

Rosaria’s passive talent, Night Walk, increases the movement speed of all characters within the team between the times of 18:00 – 6:00. This talent will let your characters move faster while it is nighttime. It is great to use while exploring the overworld at night. During the day, this talent is useless, but players are able to change the time to benefit from the movement speed increase. This ability only affects your own team and not other players in co-op. It also does not work in domains or the Spiral Abyss, making it a pure exploration talent.

Rosaria’s first ascension talent, Regina Probationum, increases her Crit Rate while she is attacking enemies from behind with her elemental skill. Her elemental skill will automatically allow her to get behind enemies, activating the talent for her to use. It is only for 5 seconds, but the 12% can be used to increase the Crit Rate Bonus she gives to other allies with her ascension 4 talent. This talent does not work when Rosaria can’t go behind a large enemy. It will not work on bosses either, making this talent less viable in a boss fight.

Rosaria’s second ascension talent, Shadow Samaritan, increases the Crit Rate of nearby party members after using her elemental burst. This is a great support talent in co-op play, allowing her to boost her teammate’s chance to land a critical hit. The Crit Rate buff scales off Rosaria’s Crit Rate, but it cannot go past 15%. Rosaria will need a Crit Rate of 100% to get the full 15% bonus, which isn’t viable for a DPS unit as she should focus on Crit DMG when her Crit Rate is over 60%. The bonus doesn’t apply to Rosaria either, so it doesn’t boost her DPS output. This talent is great when paired with the Blizzard Strayer set, which can give her an additional 40% Crit Rate. Rosaria works great as a support character that can increase the Crit Rate of her team. She will also get a 12% increase in Crit Rate after using her elemental skill to get behind enemies. If using the Blizzard Strayer set and her elemental skill combined, Rosaria will only need to have her Crit Rate at 50%-60% on her artifact stats to give the full benefit of this talent to her team. This amount will be less if Rosaria has a weapon that will increase her Crit Rate.

Rosaria gets an ATK% Bonus based on her ascension rank.

Night Walk
Unlocked Automatically

At night (18:00 – 6:00), increases the Movement SPD of your own party members by 10%.
Does not take effect in Domains, Trounce Domains, or Spiral Abyss. Not stackable with Passive Talents that provide the same effects.
Regina Probationum
Unlocked at Ascension 1

When Rosaria strikes an opponent from behind using Ravaging Confession, Rosaria’s CRIT Rate increases by 12% for 5s.
Shadow Samaritan
Unlocked at Ascension 4

Casting Rites of Termination increases CRIT Rate of all nearby party members (except Rosaria herself) by 15% of Rosaria’s CRIT Rate for 10s.
Rosaria’s CRIT Rate Bonus gained this way cannot exceed 15%.

Rosaria Constellations

rosaria explained
Rosaria Constellations

Without her constellation levels, Rosaria still has the ability to increase the Crit Rate of herself and her team with her ascension talents. She can be a great character to use, but her constellations do make a difference, depending on her role on your team.

C1: Unholy Revelation will increase Rosaria’s ATK SPD and normal attack damage when she lands a critical hit. Landing a critical hit with Rosaria will be easy with the right set, allowing Rosaria to reliably get the increase in both her attack speed and damage. It only lasts for 4 seconds, but will activate again when she lands another critical hit. This will be mainly used in a physical attacker build for Rosaria, as it doesn’t impact the damage from her elemental skill or burst.

C2: Land Without Promise increases the duration of the ice lance she summons during her elemental burst. This will allow her ice lance to stay on the field for 4 more seconds, bringing up the duration to 12 seconds. This talent will overall deal more Cryo DMG to enemies and allows for more reactions to occur during that timeframe.

C4: Painful Grace regenerates 5 energy for Rosaria when her elemental skill lasts a critical hit. The usefulness of this constellation will depend on Rosaria’s ability to land a critical hit with her skill. Paired with the short cooldown, this constellation provides a good way for Rosaria to regain energy to use her burst more often.

At C6: Divine Retribution, Rosaria’s elemental skill will decrease the enemies’ physical defenses by 20% for 10 seconds. As a physical attacker, Rosaria will greatly benefit from this constellation as it will boost her damage output. This constellation can also be used with other physical attackers like Razor who can make use of the physical defense debuff on enemies.

Constellation LevelsEffects
C1: Unholy RevelationWhen Rosaria deals a CRIT Hit, her ATK SPD increases by 10% and her Normal Attack DMG increases by 10% for 4s.
C2: Land Without PromiseThe duration of the Ice Lance created by Rites of Termination is increased by 4s.
C3: The Wages of SinIncreases the Level of Ravaging Confession by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.
C4: Painful GraceRavaging Confession’s CRIT Hits regenerate 5 Energy for Rosaria.
Can only be triggered once each time Ravaging Confession is cast.
C5: Last RitesIncreases the Level of Rites of Termination by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.
C6: Divine RetributionRites of Termination’s attack decreases opponents’ Physical RES by 20% for 10s.

Burst Support

rosaria crit builds
Rosaria Burst Support Build

This build for Rosaria focuses on her ascension 4 talent that will give up to 15% Crit Rate to her team after she uses her elemental burst. This will require her to have a total of 100% Crit Rate when she casts her burst. Building up your Crit Rate all the way on your artifacts isn’t recommended, but with the right setup, Rosaria will not need 100% Crit Rate on her artifacts and can make up for it with her set bonus, weapon, and sub-stats. For this Rosaria build, you will want to level up her elemental skill and burst. Leveling up her normal attack will be useful if you plan to use her as a sub-DPS. This build will require her to maximize the uptime of her burst to give the Crit Rate boost to the team. Having her at C0 is fine for this build, but both her C2 and C4 will help extend the time of her burst and can help regenerate some energy for her burst.

This build for Rosaria will focus on the freeze reaction and having two Cryo characters to increase the uptime on her burst. Childe is a great Hydro DPS unit and can be paired with Xingqiu who can heal and provide Hydro support. Chongyun will provide the Cryo resonance with Rosaria to increase the Crit Rate of attacks against enemies that are affected by Cryo. This team can change depending on your preference, but the Blizzard Strayer set does require enemies to be frozen to get the full benefits.

For her recommended weapon, you can go for any 5-star weapon as they will generally be good for Rosaria. The Primordial Jade Winged-Spear will increase her Crit Rate and the Staff of Homa will increase her Crit DMG. Those are more fitted for a DPS role on the team, and Rosaria’s skill set doesn’t benefit from the HP gain from the Staff of Homa. The 5-star Vortex Vanquisher will also require a shield for it to work on Rosaria. Ultimately, I chose the 5-star Skyward Spine because of its natural Energy Recharge gain from its passive stats, but the Primordial Jade Winged-Spear will also work great with her if you need the extra Crit Rate benefits.

Rosaria’s 4-star weapon should be either the Deathmatch or Blackcliff Pole if you don’t have access to the battle pass. The 4-star Deathmatch has a Crit Rate increase and will increase Rosaria’s ATK, depending on the number of enemies around. The Blackcliff Pole, on the other hand, will increase her Crit DMG, but will require her to defeat an enemy before she can gain the ATK buff. The 4-star Favonius Lance will also work and can help recharge energy for herself and the entire team.

For craft-able weapons, you should use the 4-star Prototype Grudge. This weapon will boost her Energy Recharge, and increase the power of her normal & charged attack after using her elemental skill.

Rosaria’s recommended artifact set will depend on her main artifact stats, team, and weapon. Using the 4-piece Blizzard Strayer will provide her a whopping 40% Crit Rate increase if the character attacks a frozen enemy. When combined with the Cryo team resonance and Rosaria’s Crit Rate Bonus after using her elemental skill, Rosaria will gain an additional 27% Crit Rate, adding the total to 67% Crit Rate. Only 33% Crit Rate is needed on either her weapon or artifact stats to gain the 15% bonus for the team. The 4-piece Blizzard Strayer will also increase her Cryo DMG.

You can use a 2-piece Noblesse Oblige and Blizzard Strayer to increase the power of her burst and Cryo DMG if you are not using her as a Crit Rate battery. A 4-piece Noblesse Oblige can also work to power up your main DPS when Rosaria switches to them.

In the early game, use The Exile to increase Rosaria’s Energy Recharge and provide energy for the entire team when she uses her elemental burst.

Rosaria’s main artifact stats should be:

  • Sands: ATK% or Energy Recharge (It is safe to go with ATK% if you have another Cryo character on the team.)
  • Goblet: Cryo DMG%
  • Circlet: Crit DMG (Use Crit Rate if you are not using the 4-piece Blizzard Strayer)

The sub-stats on her artifacts will depend on whether you still need to increase her Crit Rate. Generally, both Crit DMG and ATK are good on her artifact stats. Energy Recharge will also be viable for this build.

Physical DPS Build

rosaria dps build genshin impact
Rosaria Physical DPS Build

This build heavily focuses on Rosaria’s normal attack and its physical damage. As a Cryo character, Rosaria is capable of triggering the Superconduct reaction with an Electro character and reduce the enemies’ physical defenses. This build will work for any levels of her constellation, but will greatly benefit from her C6 effect that will decrease the enemy’s physical defenses.

For her teammates, you will want an Electro character like Fischl or Beidou, who can provide Electro attacks. Fischl can deal passive Electro DMG with her elemental skill and doesn’t need to be on the field, while Beidou’s burst can be used with other characters to add Electro DMG with their normal attacks. Kaeya will provide additional Cryo reactions and activate the Cryo team resonance for the team. He can be replaced with Diona if you need a healer. Xingqiu is a great support character whose main purpose will be to heal and provide Hydro DMG for reactions.

Rosaria’s recommended weapon is the 5-star Primordial Jade Winged-Spear, but other 5-star weapons will also work for this build. The Primordial Jade Winged-Spear will increase her Crit Rate and provide a boost to her ATK after hitting an enemy. This effect can stack up to 5 times.

Her 4-star weapon, the Crescent Pike, can provide better damage than the 5-star weapons if you are able to completely refine it. This weapon can be crafted at the blacksmith and will give Rosaria a Physical DMG Bonus. The Crescent Pike will also increase her normal and charged attack damage after picking up an elemental orb or particle. Ultimately, the Crescent Pike is an incredible weapon for any Main DPS pole-arm character. The Blackcliff Pole is another F2P weapon for Rosaria that will boost her Crit DMG instead. This weapon will boost the power of her critical hits, but suffers from a bad passive talent that makes it useless in a boss fight.

Another craft-able spear that you can use is the Dragonspine Spear that will also give Rosaria a Physical DMG Bonus. Most players would have used their prototypes on the Crescent Pike because it can be used with any pole-arm user. The Dragonspine Spear is more situational, but works for Rosaria because she is a Cryo character who can activate the additional icicle effect by applying Cryo to enemies with her elemental skill and burst. Compared to the Crescent Pike, the Dragonspine Spear can’t be switched around to other characters, as a non-Cryo character will need the help of a Cryo character to gain the full benefits of this weapon.

For her recommended artifact stat, go for the 4-piece Gladiator’s Finale. This set will boost Rosaria’s ATK and normal attack damage. You can also use a 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale and Bloodstained Chivalry to boost her ATK and Physical DMG. I would not use the 4-piece Bloodstained Chivalry because its 4-piece bonus only works on her charged attack and requires you to defeat an enemy first before it can activate.

Rosaria’s artifact stats should be:

  • Sands: ATK
  • Goblet: Physical DMG Bonus
  • Circlet: Crit DMG or Crit Rate (This will depend on what stats you are lacking)

For her sub-stats, Crit DMG, Crit Rate, and ATK, will boost her damage output. EM is great to boost the power of Superconduct, and Energy recharge is only needed if you plan to use her burst often.

Tartaglia is a great Hydro DPS character that can make use of Rosaria’s Crit Rate buff to power up his own attacks.

Xingqiu will provide Hydro reactions with his elemental skill and burst. He can also be used to heal with his Rain Swords.

Chongyun will activate the Cryo team resonance with Rosaria. He also has a great elemental skill that will convert any melee attack into Cryo, allowing other characters to apply Cryo to enemies.

Kaeya will provide additional Cryo support for Rosaria. His burst can be applied to any active character and its effect will still work even if he isn’t on the field. He can be replaced with Diona.

Fischl can deal passive Electro DMG with her elemental skill, even if she is not on the field. She will be used to trigger Superconduct with Rosaria.

AdvantagesDisadvantages
Crit Rate Battery for other unitsHas a basic skillset without the aide of her constellation and ascension talents.
Higher normal attack scaling than other pole-arm users.Passive talent only works at a specific timeframe and can only be used to explore
Short cooldown on elemental skillElemental skill’s Crit Rate boost does not work on large enemies or bosses

Recommended Domains: Cecilia Garden, Midsummer Courtyard, Valley Of Remembrance, Stormterror, Taishan Mountain, Hidden Palace Of Zhou Formula, Childe

Conclusion

best rosaria builds
Rosaria at the Tavern

Rosaria is one of those characters that can be played in many different ways, depending on your build for her. She can be built as a physical attacker or as a burst character that specializes in Cryo damage. Rosaria also comes with a natural ATK% in her ascension ranks and is capable of increasing the Crit Rate of herself and your team with her ascension talents. Overall, Rosaria can play a support role on any team as a Crit Rate battery, but is also capable of dealing damage herself.
