The Tenacity of the Millelith and Pale Flame artifact set were released with the 1.5 update in Genshin Impact. The artifact set is obtained by defeating the Ridge Watch Domain located between Dragonspine and Liyue. Here are some general tips on clearing the domain and the best characters to use these artifacts on!
Ridge Watch

The Pale Flame and Tenacity of the Millelith can both be obtained by clearing the Ridge Watch Domain. While in the domain, a ley line disorder will create a backlash when an enemy hits a character with a shield. The backlash will create a shockwave that will AoE damage around the enemy that attacked your character. This effect can occur every two seconds. It is recommended you bring a shield generator like Zhongli or Diona to this domain. Geo characters who can reliably produce elemental shards to protect you will also work.
The hardest level of this domain is the Ridge Watch IV stage. During this stage, you will have to defeat two Geovishap, one with the element of Hydro and the other with the element of Electro. You will have less than 5 minutes to defeat them. Defeating these Geovishap might be tricky for some players. Some of their common attacks include charging at your character or jumping high in the air and slamming into the ground. Having two of them run at you might be overwhelming, so it is best to have a shield or have a good healer on your team. Since the Geovishaps have elements corresponded to them, it is easy to trigger reactions and deal damage to them.
Note: The Hydro Geovishap will mark your character before they launch a deadly attack. It will follow your character for a couple of seconds before stopping. When it becomes stationary, that is your chance to dodge the attack!
Pale Flame

Pale Flame
2-Piece Bonus: Physical DMG +25%
4-Piece Bonus: When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, ATK is increased by 9% for 7s. This effect stacks up to 2 times and can be triggered once every 0.3s. Once 2 stacks are reached, the 2-set effect is increased by 100%.
The Pale Flame grants the wearer a physical attack bonus and will increase the attack of the user if their elemental skill hits an enemy. The physical damage boost is great for any character that primarily uses their normal attack talent. It can be paired with the 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale to grant a character an increase to both their attack and physical damage. You can also use a 2-piece Pale Flame and Bloodstained Chivalry to get +50% to your physical damage without worrying about the condition of the 4-piece bonus. This buff will be constant, but you will forego the ATK buff from the 4-piece Pale Flame.
The 4-piece bonus of the Pale Flame is best used with a character that has a quick cooldown on their elemental skill because damaging an enemy with their elemental skill is needed for the 4-piece bonus to activate. With a quick cooldown, the character is able to increase the set effect of the 2-piece bonus when you reach 2 stacks with the 4-piece buff. The 4-piece Pale Flame is best used on a Main DPS character as the effects will greatly boost the character’s normal attack talent. Characters like Hu Tao and Xiao should stay away from this artifact as their skills will convert their normal attack into elemental damage, thus losing the physical damage bonus from the Pale Flame.
To benefit from the 4-piece bonus of the Pale Flame, characters must hit an enemy with their elemental skill within 7 seconds of the buff activating or the stack will wear off. This condition makes it hard for characters with long cool-downs on their elemental skill to use. Any main DPS can benefit from the 2-piece bonus of the Pale Flame.
Eula’s elemental skill press effect only has a cooldown of 4 seconds. This low cooldown allows her to easily activate the 4-piece stack bonus, giving her increased ATK and Physical DMG. Her hold effect does have a cooldown of 10 seconds and will require her second constellation level to activate the 4-piece Pale Flame.
Main DPS: 4-piece Pale Flame | 2-piece Pale Flame & Bloodstained Chivalry
Fischl’s elemental skill is capable of dealing passive Electro DMG, allowing her to easily trigger the 4-piece bonus within the 7 seconds time limit. The Pale Flame will provide a boost to her normal attack talent, allowing her to become a physical attacker. If Oz is already on the field when the boost is triggered, then he will not be able to experience the ATK buff as his stats are determined at the start of the cast of the skill. Only a Physical DPS Fischl will benefit from using the Pale Flame.
Physical DPS: 4-piece Pale Flame
Electro DPS: 4-piece Thundering Fury
Zhongli’s physical attack is increased through the use of the 4-piece Pale Flame. His press effect also has a 4 second cooldown, allowing him to easily gain the stacks needed to boost his physical damage. Zhongli’s hold effect has a cooldown of 12 seconds, but his stone pillar can deal passive Geo DMG to nearby enemies, allowing him to activate the 4-piece bonus with his hold effect as well.
Physical DPS: 4-piece Pale Flame | 2-piece Pale Flame & Gladiator’s Finale | 2-piece Pale Flame & Bloodstained Chivalry
Shield DPS: 4-piece Retracing Bolide
Geo Support: 4-piece Archaic Petra
Rosaria’s elemental skill has a cooldown of 6 seconds. It will allow her to get behind enemies and also increase her Crit Rate if you have her ascension talent activated. Rosaria can use the 4-piece Pale Flame if she is the Main DPS of your team. As a Cryo character, she can also activate the Superconduct reaction with an Electro character to decrease the physical defenses of enemies. A similar build can be used with Kaeya.
Physical DPS: 4-piece Pale Flame | 2-piece Pale Flame & Gladiator’s Finale | 2-piece Pale Flame & Bloodstained Chivalry
Cryo Support: 4-piece Blizzard Strayer
The press effect of Razor’s elemental skill is able to activate the buff of the 4-piece Pale Flame as it has a 6 second cooldown. However, his hold effect, which does more damage, has a 10 second cooldown, making it impossible to activate the buff within the 7 second timeframe. Razor can also trigger Superconduct with a Cryo character to decrease the enemies’ physical resistances.
Physical DPS: 4-piece Pale Flame | 2-piece Pale Flame & Gladiator’s Finale | 2-piece Pale Flame & Bloodstained Chivalry
DPS: 4-piece Gladiator’s Finale
Jean can benefit from the 4-piece Pale Flame as her elemental skill has a cooldown of 6 seconds. She will need to be built as a physical attacker for this artifact to work on her. Jean also comes with the added bonus of being able to heal herself and her teammates with her elemental burst.
Physical DPS: 4-piece Pale Flame | 2-piece Pale Flame & Gladiator’s Finale | 2-piece Pale Flame & Bloodstained Chivalry
Anemo Support: 4-piece Viridescent Venerer
Tenacity of the Millelith

Tenacity of the Millelith
2-Piece Bonus: HP +20%
4-Piece Bonus: When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the ATK of all nearby party members is increased by 20% and their Shield Strength is increased by 30% for 3s. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s. This effect can still be triggered even when the character who is using this artifact set is not on the field.
The Tenacity of the Millelith is a support artifact set that can increase the health of the wearer. After using their elemental skill, nearby party members will also gain an ATK and Shield Strength buff. This buff will boost the attack and shield strength of your entire team while it is active. The effects can be triggered even if the character with the artifact equipped is not on the field. However, the buff will only last for 3 seconds, which isn’t very long. To make up for the short duration, the effects can be triggered every .5 seconds.
The 2-piece bonus of the Tenacity of the Millelith is great for any character that has their skills scaled off their Max HP. Characters like Barbara can use the 2-piece bonus to increase the amount she can heal the team. Hu Tao is also able to benefit from the 2-piece bonus as her elemental skill boosts her attack based on her max health.
The 4-piece bonus of the Tenacity of the Millelith is best used on a support character that can generate a shield for the party. Characters like Zhongli or Diona can generate a shield that scales off their max health, fully utilizing the Tenacity of the Millelith. Other support characters like Bennett whose skill scales off Max HP can use the 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith as well, but they will be unable to create a shield for the team without the help of another member.
The 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith should be used with a character with a short cooldown of their elemental skill so the 4-piece effect can reliably trigger for the entire party. Only a shortlist of characters currently exist that will benefit from the HP increase and can reliably trigger the buff of the 4-piece bonus.
Characters that will benefit from the 2-piece Tenacity of the Millelith: Barbara, Hu Tao, Bennett
As a support character, Zhongli can benefit from both bonuses of the Tenacity of the Millelith. His shield also scales off his HP, allowing him to absorb more damage. In addition, Zhongli’s elemental skill can passively deal damage to enemies that are close by, activating the buff for other characters.
Support: 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith
Diona’s shield scales off her Max HP, allowing it to absorb more damage with the more health she has. Her elemental burst will also heal more based on her health. It is important to note that Diona’s constellation 2 is needed for her to shield nearby members of your party. Regardless, she can still benefit from the health increase and can provide buffs for your Main DPS. Due to the nature of the 4-piece bonus, using the Tenacity of the Millelith works better for Diona in co-op as she can give her teammates the buff. Her elemental skill cannot deal passive damage, and she will have to constantly switch between characters to activate the buff in single player.
Support: 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith
Shinobu’s elemental skill can hit enemies with Electro allowing her to easily trigger the 4-piece bonus for her teammates.
