Background

Kaedehara Kazuha is a 5-star Anemo character that uses a sword in battle. He currently a runaway from the region of Inazuma and is a temporary crew member of Beidou’s fleet ship.
Kazuha can be best described as careful and gentle, but is secretly filled with many burdens in his heart. He is a wandering samurai from Inazuma, belonging to the Kaedehara Clan, who has collapsed and fallen from power over the years. He wanders throughout life, not having a concern about anything. Kazuha even has a keen sense of the weather, allowing him to freely travel throughout the land without worrying about snow or rain.
Fun Fact: In his freetime, Kazuha likes to write haikus.
[Spoiler]
Kazuha is forced to flee from Inazuma when the Electro Achron Baal, declares him a criminal by taking his dead friend’s Electro vision. He is taken in by Beidou and is now living on her ship.
He believes that Baal and her supporters have no right to take a person’s dream or vision away. He does acknowledge her strength, but does not like her method of restricting the freedom of choice of others. When the Vision Decree was issued, Kazuha’s friend challenged Baal to a battle. Kazuha came to help his friend in battle, however, he came too late and all he could do was flee with his friend’s dying vision as Baal overpowered him. From that day, Kazuha had to face many battles in order to survive.
Kazuha Skill Talents
Kazuha’s main use will be as a support to trigger Swirl reactions and boost the elemental damage of his team. He can also be used as an Anemo DPS with the use of his elemental skill and his Anemo plunging attack.

With his normal attack, Garyuu Bladework, Kazuha will unleash up to 5 rapid strikes with his sword. The 3rd strike will deal 2 hits while his 5th strike will deal 3x hits. The damage for both of these hits will be less to make up for the extra strikes. The 4th strike will deal the most damage. Kazuha’s charged attack will consume a portion of his stamina and deal 2 sword strikes to the enemy with the second slash dealing more damage. As a support character, his normal attack will rarely be used, except for his Anemo plunging attack that bases the damage from this talent level.

With his plunging attack, Kazuha will slam into the ground and deal AoE damage to surrounding enemies. Kazuha has an additional form of his plunging attack called Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan that will deal Anemo damage to enemies instead of physical damage. This version of his plunging attack will also create a small wind tunnel to pull in nearby objects and enemies. To trigger this attack, Kazuha must plunge using his elemental skill. Kazuha’s Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan allows him to deal Anemo damage with his normal attack.
Kazuha’s elemental skill Chihayaburu has two effects. The tap effect allows him to pull enemies closer to him as he is lifted into the air and trigger Swirl when he comes into contact with an element. This skill has a cooldown of 6 seconds, allowing Kazuha to easily use it multiple times in a short timeframe. His tap effect can also be used in mid-air, but his hold effect cannot. With his hold effect, Kazuha will unleash a wider AoE and deal Anemo DMG before being launched up. The cooldown is 9 seconds, which is still a pretty short cooldown before it can be used again.

During the first 10 seconds of being airborne due to his elemental skill, Kazuha has the ability to perform Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan and transform his plunging attack into Anemo DMG. Once he lands, Kazuha will summon another wind tunnel to pull enemies closer to him. If enemies are launched back due to his plunging attack, they will be pulled back once Kazuha lands. If his ascension 1 skill is unlocked, Kazuha will deal additional damage based on the element he absorbs with his elemental skill. In total, Kazuha will deal 2 bursts of Anemo DMG and wind tunnels.
Note: While airborne, Kazuha will be surrounded by a special wind to show that his Midare Ranzan plunging attack can still be used.
Lastly, Kazuha’s elemental skill can be used to used in mid-air to perform a double jump or while he is gliding. It will also generate 3-4 energy particles based on if the press or hold effect was used.

Kazuha’s burst, Kazuha Slash, allows him to deal Anemo DMG with the swing of his blade and leave behind a field called the Autumn Whirlwind. This field will periodically deal Anemo DMG to enemies over 8 seconds. It has a cooldown of 15 seconds with an energy cost of 60. If Autumn Whirlwind comes into contact with an elemental besides Geo and Anemo, it will trigger Elemental Absorption and deal additional elemental damage based on the element that was absorbed.
In co-op, Kazuha can act as a support to boost the elemental damage of his team or as Anemo DPS character himself.
Kazuha Passive Talents

Kazuha’s passive talent gives him the ability to boost the elemental damage of his teammates and allows him to deal extra elemental damage himself when he uses his elemental skill. His passive talent decreases the sprinting stamina of the team.
Kazuha’s passive talent, Cloud Strider, decreases the sprinting stamina consumption of your party members when he is on your team by 20%. This talent allows you to run for greater distances while explore or can be used to more effectively dodge enemy attacks without draining too much stamina. He shares this talent with Kaeya and Razor, however they can not be stacked with one another.
Kazuha’s first ascension talent, Soumon Swordsmanship, allows him to deal extra elemental damage when his elemental skill comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro. When his elemental skill is cast, Kazuha will absorb that element and deal elemental damage based on the element after he uses his Anemo plunging attack. This talent allows Kazuha to deal more damage overall, but you must be careful of the element that is absorbed as some enemies are resistant or immune to a particular element.
His ascension 4 talent, Poetics of Fuubutsu, gives Kazuha the ability to increase the elemental damage of his teammates when he triggers a Swirl reaction. This is a great support skill that can be easily triggered and will last for 8 seconds. The buff will only give a 0.04% bonus for every Elemental Mastery Kazuha has, so it essential you increase his Elemental Mastery to fully benefit from this talent. The buff will also only work if the character has the same element that was used in the Swirl reaction. It can be used to grant multiple bonuses as long as Kazuha triggers a Swirl of different elements.
Kaedehara Kazuha gets an elemental mastery bonus based on his ascension rank.
Cloud Strider Unlocked Automatically Decreases sprinting Stamina consumption for your own party members by 20%. Not stackable with Passive Talents that provide the exact same effects. |
Soumon Swordsmanship Unlocked at Ascension 1 If Chihayaburu comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro when cast, Chihayaburu will absorb that element and if Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan is used before the effect expires, it will deal an additional 200% ATK of the absorbed elemental type as DMG. This will be considered Plunging Attack DMG. |
Poetics of Fuubutsu Unlocked at Ascension 4 Upon triggering a Swirl reaction, Kaedehara Kazuha will grant teammates a 0.04% Elemental DMG Bonus to their corresponding Element for every point of Elemental Mastery he has for 8s. Bonuses for different elements obtained through this method can co-exist. |
Kazuha Constellations

Kazuha works as a great support or sub-DPS character without the aid of his constellation levels. His constellations does greatly increase his support abilities, especially his C2 which gives a major boost to the EM of himself and his team, however they aren’t needed for him to carry his duties as a support character. At C6, Kazuha can fully function as a DPS character that can infuse his normal attack with Anemo DMG.
Kazuha’s first constellation, Scarlet Hills, decreases the cooldown of his elemental skill by 10%. His elemental skill already has a short cooldown, but the decrease will bring his tap cooldown to 3.6 seconds and his hold cooldown to 8.1 seconds. This isn’t a huge difference, but will still save players a bit of time. This constellation will also reset the cooldown of his elemental skill when his elemental burst is used. Overall, this constellation level allows Kazuha to use his elemental skill and plunging attack more often.
At C2: Yamaarashi Tailwind, Kazuha’s elemental burst will increase the elemental mastery of himself and all characters within the field by 200. This constellation will greatly boost the reaction damage of your team when his burst is used. It also pairs nicely with Kazuha’s ascension 4 talent that will give the team increased elemental damage when Kazuha triggers a Swirl reaction. The elemental mastery effects of this constellation will not stack with one another. The effects will also only remain during the duration of his burst.
C4: Oozora Genpou allow Kazuha to gain more energy when he uses his elemental skill. This constellation effect will only work if he is at 45 energy or below. In addition, when gliding, Kazuha will also recover energy per second. This burst doesn’t recover a lot of energy and his elemental skill already gives him a good amount of energy every time it is used. This constellation does help, but isn’t too groundbreaking, especially since it requires Kazuha to be below 45 energy.
When his C6: Crimson Momiji is unlocked, Kazuha will gain an Anemo infusion in his normal attack when he uses his elemental skill or burst for 5 seconds. This constellation level allows Kazuha to become a more DPS-oriented unit instead of a support. Kazuha’s normal attack damage will also increase by .02% for each point of elemental mastery he has, allowing him to deal even more damage.
Constellation Levels | Effects |
---|---|
C1: Scarlet Hills | Decreases Chihayaburu’s CD by 10%. Using Kazuha Slash resets the CD of Chihayaburu. |
C2: Yamaarashi Tailwind | The Autumn Whirlwind field created by Kazuha Slash has the following effects: Increases Kaedehara Kazuha’s own Elemental Mastery by 200. Increases the Elemental Mastery of characters within the field by 200. The Elemental Mastery-increasing effects of this Constellation do not stack. |
C3: Maple Monogatari | ncreases the Level of Chihayaburu by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15. |
C4: Oozora Genpou | When Kaedehara Kazuha’s Energy is lower than 45, he obtains the following effects: Pressing or Holding Chihayaburu regenerates 3 or 4 Energy for Kaedehara Kazuha, respectively. When gliding, Kaedehara Kazuha regenerates 2 Energy per second. |
C5: Wisdom of Bansei | Increases the Level of Kazuha Slash by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15. |
C6: Crimson Momiji | After using Chihayaburu or Kazuha Slash, Kaedehara Kazuha gains an Anemo Infusion for 5s. Additionally, each point of Elemental Mastery will increase the DMG dealt by Kaedehara Kazuha’s Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack by 0.2%. |
Recommended Builds
Elemental DMG Support Build

This build for Kazuha focuses on his ascension 4 ability to grant his team an elemental damage bonus when he triggers a Swirl reaction. Kazuha is capable of triggering Swirl through both his elemental skill and burst so it is best to level those 2 skills up. The higher his elemental mastery, the bigger the buff Kazuha will give his teammates. This buff will only last 8 seconds and will only affect characters with the same element infused in the Swirl. Kazuha will also deal powerful bursts of Anemo DMG through Swirl with his huge amount of Elemental Mastery.
Kazuha can work in a variety of teams that rely on elemental damage. Xingqiu will be used to apply Hydro and should be the element infused in his elemental burst and Swirl. You can also use Mona, Barbara, or Childe for this role. Then you use a Cryo character like Ganyu and Diona to trigger the freeze or a Pyro character to trigger Vaporize. The main role Kazuha will play is to increase the elemental damage of your DPS, so characters like Ganyu or Hu Tao will work nicely with him.
For Kazuha’s weapon, you will want a weapon that will give him a passive boost in elemental mastery since that is what his buff scales off of. The Freedom-Sworn is a 5-star weapon that will give Kazuha a boost to his EM. It will also increase his damage and grant him a Sigils of Rebellion when he triggers an elemental reaction. Once Kazuha has 2 sigils, he will consume them to grant his teammates increased ATK and damage of their normal, charged, and plunging attack for 12 seconds. Kazuha will only be able to activate this buff every 20 seconds. This weapon is a great support weapon and powers up the wearer’s reaction damage and gives other characters a powerful boost. The Skyward Blade and Primordial Jade Cutter will also work for Kazuha, but are more fitted toward a DPS or sub DPS role instead of a support one.
Kazuha’s other recommended weapon is the Iron Sting which can be crafted at the blacksmith. This weapon also has a passive in EM and will increase Kazuha’s elemental damage when he deals elemental damage to an enemy. This passive ability is easy to obtain with both his elemental skill and burst. The 4-star weapon The Alley Flash from the weapons banner will also increase Kazuha’s overall DMG, but comes with a negative side effect that will disable its passive skill when Kazuha takes damage.
If you find that Kazuha already has a lot of Elemental Mastery, you can opt for a weapon with Energy Recharge to charge up his burst faster. Using the Sacrificial Sword will grant Kazuha the chance to reset his elemental skill when he does damage to an enemy. This will also allow him to jump higher in the air as his skill can be used again in mid-air. The Favonius Sword also has a passive in Energy Recharge and will also grant more energy to the party when Kazuha lands a critical hit. Lastly, the Festering Desire is another great weapon for Kazuha if you plan on maxing out his elemental skill. It was an event weapon and was easily refined and obtained during its duration.
In the early game, you can use the Dark Iron Sword which has a passive in EM and boosts Kazuha’s ATK when he triggers a reaction with Electro. This will rely on having an Electro character on the team to fully work. The Skyrider Sword can also be used to boost his Energy Recharge and ATK/Speed when Kazuha uses his burst.
For his artifact set, the 4-piece Viridescent Venerer is your best option as it will increase his Anemo DMG and his Swirl reaction DMG. It will also decrease the elemental RES of enemies affected by Swirl, allowing Kazuha and his teammates to deal more damage. Another good option is a 2-piece Viridescent Venerer and Wanderer’s Troupe. This set will boost Kazuha’s Anemo DMG and Elemental Mastery, which will increase the buff he will give his teammate.
In the early game, use the 4-piece Instructor set. This artifact set will increase Kazuha’s elemental mastery by 80 and increase the team’s elemental mastery when Kazuha uses his elemental skill.
- Sands: Elemental Mastery
- Goblet: Elemental Mastery or Anemo DMG%
- Circlet: Elemental Mastery
For his sub-stat look for ATK% or Energy Recharge. Swirl can not deal critical hits, but you can still focus on Crit Rate or Crit DMG to boost the power of his Anemo attacks.
DPS Build

Kazuha can also be built as a DPS or Sub-DPS through the use of his elemental skill and plunging attack. This build for Kazuha allows him to deal Anemo DMG with his plunging attack and requires using his elemental skill to work. When his ascension talent 1 is effective, Kazuha will also deal extra elemental damage when he absorbs an element in his Swirl. Kazuha’s plunging attack scales off his normal attack talent and not his elemental skill, so you should level them both up to increase the damage he can deal when unleashing his elemental skill and then plunging down on enemies.
For your team, you will want both Mona and Bennett on your team to fully maximize the damage you can deal as both of their bursts will boost the damage dealt to enemies. For the last team slot, you can choose another DPS character like Beidou or another support character like Diona.
Kazuha’s recommended 5-star weapon is the Primordial Jade Cutter, which will increase his Crit Rate and HP. The passive skill will also boost Kazuha’s attack based on the amount of health he has. Kazuha can also use the Skyward Blade if you want to charge up his burst faster. This weapon gives him a small stat boost to his Crit Rate and will strengthen his normal and charged attack when he uses his burst. However, it will not increase the damage of his plunging attack.
For his 4-star weapon, Kazuha can equip the Sacrificial Sword, which has a passive stat in Energy Recharge. This weapon also has a chance to end the cooldown of his elemental skill when he damages an enemy with it. Although his skill already has a short cooldown, you can use it to jump higher in the air and use your plunging attack at a higher distance. You can also use a 4-star Festering Desire to increase the damage of his elemental skill. You won’t be able to deal critical damage with the Swirl Reaction, but the Blackcliff Longsword can be used to increase his regular damage due to the Crit DMG passive and ATK increase after defeating an enemy. The Blackcliff Longsword will not work against bosses as its passive requires you to defeat an enemy first before it can activate.
For a regular DPS build, focus on physical damage with weapons like the 4-star Prototype Rancour or 5-star Aquila Favonia.
For his artifact set, equip Kazuha with a 2-piece Viridescent Venerer and Gladiator’s Finale to gain a permanent buff to his Anemo DMG and ATK%. Use a 2-piece Bloodstained Chivalry and Pale Flame/Gladiator’s Finale for a physical build.
For Kazuha’s main artifacts:
- Sands: ATK%
- Goblet: Anemo DMG Bonus%
- Circlet: Crit Rate/Crit DMG
In the sub-stats, look for ATK%, Energy Recharge, EM, Crit Rate, or Crit DMG.
Recommended Party Members
Hu Tao is a great Pyro character with an elemental skill that drains her health in exchange for increased ATK and Pyro infusion. Can be replaced with another DPS like Ganyu.
Childe can apply Hydro to enemies with his melee stance and can act as a DPS character for the team. As a bow user, his charged attack can also be used to apply Hydro.
Xingqiu can apply Hydro to enemies with both his elemental skill and burst. His Rain Swords can also heal your character when they are active.
Beidou’s elemental damage will be increased with the support of Kazuha.
Bennett can be used to heal the team and increase the damage of anyone inside his burst. The damage of Kazuha’s plunging attack will also be increased while inside Bennett’s burst.
Mona’s burst allows enemies affected by her Omen to be dealt increased damage.
Advantages | Disadvantages |
---|---|
Quick cooldown on his elemental skill allowing him to easily gain energy | Relies on other elements to be infused with his Swirl |
Can increase the elemental damage of his teammates with his EM | Normal and Charged ATK doesn’t offer much unless you get him as max constellations |
Burst can deal AoE DMG and has a wide range | Need to be careful on the element that is absorbed by Swirl |
Conclusion

Kaedehara Kazuha is the first character from Inazuma we have met so far and is currently on the run from the Electro Archon herself. He is a great support character with the ability to increase the elemental damage of his team whenever he triggers a Swirl. His elemental skill also comes with a quick cool down and can transform his plunging attack into Anemo DMG. He can also be used as a DPS through his Anemo plunging attack or a physical DPS. Kazuha works great in a variety of teams composition, but will greatly benefit with teams with members of the same element to capitalize on the elemental damage bonus he gives to his party from his ascension 4 skill.
