Background

Raiden Shogun is the current Electro Archon, and rules over all of Inazuma. The player first encounters her when she is looking over the vision ceremony to take Thoma’s vision. As the Electro Archon , the Raiden Shoguns promised Inazuma an endless eternity and will stop at nothing to achieve this goal. She is a 5-star Electro character that wields a pole-arm, but uses a sword during the duration of her burst.
[Spoilers]
The current Raiden Shogun has two forms that occupy her body. Her true self is called Raiden Ei, who medicates within the Plane of Euthymia to prevent herself from eroding. She created the puppet Shogun to operate within the physical world. The Shogun is cold and heartless, while Ei is more friendly and expresses more emotion. The Shogun will follow only Ei’s orders and can not act without her permission.
Ei has a fear of losing the people she cares about after countless centuries of experiencing her friend’s death. She wishes to preserve Inazuma in a state of eternity to prevent any more loss. Unlike the Shogun, Ei has a set of likes and dislikes. She has a particular weakness for anything sweet.
During the Archon War, Baal and Beelzebul were twin gods who won together. Beelzebul served as Baal’s body double and her identity was hidden from the world’s eye. The original Baal died from an event set before the story, and Beelzebul has been acting as the ruler of Inazuma using the puppet Shogun and using her sister’s name. Beelzebul is also referred to as Raiden Ei.
Raiden Shogun Skill Talents
The Raiden Shogun is an all-around DPS with the ability to provide energy regeneration for her team while dealing massive amounts of Electro DMG

Her normal attack, Origin, can perform up to 5 strikes with her polearm. The 4th attack will hit 2x for less damage, while her 5th hit is the strongest. Raiden Shogun’s charged attack unleashs an upward slash in exchange for stamina.

With the Raiden Shogun’s elemental skill, Transcendence: Baleful Omen, she will deal an initial blast of Electro DMG and grant nearby teammates the Eye of Stormy Judgment. This eye will unleash a coordinated Electro attack when a character deals damage to enemies with the skill in effect. It can deal an attack every .9 seconds per party and will last 25 seconds. This buff can work even if you switch to other characters. Co-op characters will only deal 20% of the original’s damage. It also only has a cooldown of 10 seconds, so it can constantly be reactivated once its duration ends. In addition to the coordinated attack, the Eye of Stormy Judgment will also increase the burst damage of characters based on the energy cost of their burst. This scales well with characters with high energy costs like Ayaka or Venti! The extra Electro DMG also works well with characters that can infuse their normal attack with elemental damage to trigger reactions! The initial skill damage does not gain any energy.
Raiden Shogun’s burst, Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu, first deals AoE damage and allows her to enter the Musou Isshin state. While in this state, the Raiden Shogun will infuse her normal attack with Electro DMG for 7 seconds and can not be overridden by other effects. The damage from the infused attacks is considered elemental burst damage so you won’t have to build up her normal attack if you don’t plan on dealing physical damage with her. She will also regenerate energy for nearby party members when she hits an enemy with her infused attack. This effect will trigger every second up to 5 times. The Raiden Shogun will also be immune to all Electro reactions and have an increased resistance to interruption. The Electro reaction immunity is great to prevent any accidental damage from Electro-charge or Overload. The effects of Musou Isshin will disappear when Raiden Shogun is off the field. This burst has an energy cool of 90 and cooldown of 18 seconds. This shouldn’t be a problem if she is built with energy recharge in mind.

Raiden Shogun’s burst also has an additional effect called the Chakra Desiderata. Each time a nearby party member uses their burst, Raiden Shogun will gain Resolve stacks based on the energy cost of that character’s burst. The damage of Raiden Shogun’s burst will be increased based on the number of Resolve stacks consumed at the start of her burst. The max stack is 60 and is easily obtainable, especially with high-energy bursts. This effect can last up to 300 seconds after Raiden Shogun leaves the field, giving you plenty of time to build up Resolve stacks.
In co-op, Raiden Shogun can act as an energy battery for her teammates, while dishing out damage herself. Characters not controlled by her will only be able to deal a portion of her eye’s damage, but it can still increase the power of their bursts.
Raiden Shogun Passive Talents

The Raiden Shogun’s passive talent will save the player on Mora when ascending swords and polearms. Her ascension talents boost the power and energy regeneration of her burst while proving her an Electro DMG bonus.
Raiden Shogun’s passive talent, All-Preserver, decreases the cost of Mora when ascending swords and polearm weapons. This talent doesn’t have a use outside of combat, but can drastically decrease the cost of ascending swords and polearms. She also doesn’t need to be in the party for this talent to trigger!
Her first ascension talent, Wishes Unnumbered, increases the number of Resolves that can be collected when nearby party members collect an energy particle or elemental orb. This talent allows Raiden Shogun to obtain more Resolves for her Chakra Desiderata to boost the power of her burst. The max is still 60, but this talent will overall help her achieve max stacks more quickly.
Raiden Shogun’s ascension 4 talent, Enlightened One, increases her Electro DMG and energy regeneration from her Musou Isshin state for every point above 100% Energy Recharge. With an Energy Recharge of 200%, that boost will equal +60% more energy generation and 40% Electro DMG.
Raiden Shogun gets an Energy Recharge bonus based on her ascension rank.
All-Preserver Unlocked Automatically Mora expended when ascending Swords and Polearms is decreased by 50%. |
Wishes Unnumbered Unlocked at Ascension 1 When nearby party members gain Elemental Orbs or Particles, Chakra Desiderata gains 2 Resolve stacks. This effect can occur once every 3s. |
Enlightened One Unlocked at Ascension 4 Each 1% above 100% Energy Recharge that the Raiden Shogun possesses grants her: 0.6% greater Energy restoration from Musou Isshin 0.4% Electro DMG Bonus |
Raiden Shogun Constellations

The Raiden Shogun’s constellation offers her a mix of support abilities and power increase toward her burst.
C1: Ominous Inscription increases the rate of how you gain Resolves. Other elements will gain a 20% increase in their Resolve gain when using their burst. Electro characters will provide 80% more Resolves! There is still a cap on the amount of Resolves that Raiden Shogun can collect, but this constellation will make achieving max stacks a lot easier and quicker.
Her C2: Steelbreaker, allows the Raiden Shogun to ignore 60% of enemies defenses when using her burst. This constellation allows Raiden Shogun to hit enemies for more damage while ignoring a huge portion of their defense! It pairs great with her burst that already can deal large amounts of Electro DMG on its own.
At C4: Pledge of Propriety, the Raiden Shogun gains the ability to increase the ATK of nearby teammates by 30% for 10 seconds after her Musou Isshin ends. Although this effect does not apply to Raiden Shogun, it will still be a good support skill for other members of the team to boost their damage. This effect can be triggered earlier by switching Raiden Shogun out before her burst effect ends, but this is not recommended.
Lastly at C6: Wishbearer, Raiden Shogun gets another support skill that will decrease the cooldown of her team’s elemental burst by 1 second when she hits enemies with her normal/charged/plunging attack while in the Musou Isshin state. This constellation does not affect Raiden Shogun, but will effectively end the cooldown of most bursts depending on the number of hits Raiden Shogun dishes out. Her elemental burst already helps boost the team’s energy regeneration, so this constellation will allow characters to use their burst more often in battle.
Constellation Levels | Effects |
---|---|
C1: Ominous Inscription | Chakra Desiderata will gather Resolve even faster. When Electro characters use their Elemental Bursts, the Resolve gained is increased by 80%. When characters of other Elemental Types use their Elemental Bursts, the Resolve gained is increased by 20%. |
C2: Steelbreaker | Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu’s Musou no Hitotachi and Musou Isshin attacks will ignore 60% of opponents’ DEF. |
C3: Shinkage Bygones | Increases the Level of Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15. |
C4: Pledge of Propriety | When the Musou Isshin state applied by Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu expires, all nearby party members (excluding the Raiden Shogun) gain 30% bonus ATK for 10s. |
C5: Shogun’s Descent | Increase the Level of Transcendence: Baleful Omen by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15. |
C6: Wishbearer | While in the Musou Isshin state applied by Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu, the Raiden Shogun’s Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks will decrease all nearby party members’ (but not including the Raiden Shogun herself) Elemental Burst CD by 1s when they hit opponents. Elemental Mastery is increased by 200 when HP is above 50%. |
Recommended Builds
Electro DPS

The Raiden Shogun is an overall DPS character that can deal massive amounts of damage with all of her skills. Her burst, in particular, infuses her normal attack with Electro DMG, which also scales as burst damage. This build focuses on her overall Electro DPS. This build can also be used as a sub-DPS or energy support if you focus more on her elemental skill. Raiden Shogun won’t need her normal attack in a support build.
For her teammates, you will want to go with support units that can increase the Raiden Shogun’s damage. Kazuha can Swirl with the Electro element to boost Raiden Shogun’s elemental damage while triggering her elemental skill coordinated attack. Bennett will increase the power of Raiden Shogun’s attack and heal, while Xingqiu also has Hydro coordinated attacks with his burst that can sync up with her attacks. Raiden Shogun can work in a variety of teams that require high energy bursts as she can help generate more energy for the team.
Any 5-star weapon can work with Raiden Shogun. her recommended 5-star weapon is the Engulfing Lightning, which is her signature weapon. This weapon has a passive in Energy Recharge and increases the Raiden Shogun’s attack based on the amount of Energy Recharge she has over 100%. This weapon does have a cap, but will still provide Raiden Shogun with a generous amount of ATK. After using her burst, the Engulfing Lightning will provide an extra boost in Energy Recharge for 12 seconds after using her own burst. You can also use the Skyward Spine since it also has a passive in Energy Recharge. The Skyward Spine will also increase Raiden Shogun’s Crit Rate and has a chance to trigger additional ATK damage on the enemy.
For her four-star weapon, the best F2P option is The Catch, which you can obtain by trading in fish in Inazuma. This weapon has a passive in Energy Recharge and will increase her burst damage and Crit Rate. This works well for a burst build for Raiden Shogun and is free to obtain for anyone! The craftable Prototype Grudge also works fine for Raiden Shogun and provides an Energy Recharge boost. Using her elemental skill will increase the damage of her normal and charged attack for 12 seconds. The Favonius Lance is suitable for the Raiden Shogun and can generate more energy for the team when Raiden Shogun lands a critical hit on enemies.
If you have access to the battle pass, the Deathmatch provides a boost to the Raiden Shogun’s Crit Rate. The ATK and defense buff it provides will depend on the number of enemies around her. Likewise, the Blackcliff Pole increases her Crit DMG, but requires Raiden Shogun to defeat an enemy before it can activate the ATK buff.
The best artifact set for the Raiden Shogun is the 4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate. This artifact boosts Raiden Shogun Energy Recharge and increases the damage of her burst based on a portion of her Energy Recharge stat. It is highly recommended you equip her with this artifact because Raiden Shogun already has a built-in Energy Recharge buff from her ascension. A 2-piece Thundering Fury and Emblem of Severed Fate will also suffice if you don’t have good artifacts yet for a full set. This artifact will increase Raiden Shogun’s Electro DMG and Energy Recharge.
For the Raiden Shogun artifact stats:
- Sands: ATK% or Energy Recharge (Focus on ATK% if you already have an Energy Recharge weapon)
- Goblet: Electro DMG% or ATK%
- Circlet: Crit Rate% or Crit DMG%
In the sub-stats, look for Energy Recharge, Crit Rate, Crit DMG, and ATK%.
Sub DPS

The Raiden Shogun can also act as a sub-DPS with her elemental skill. After using it, you will want to switch to your DPS to deal damage. She can also make use of her Burst to deal Electro DMG and provide energy for the team. Raiden Shogun’s burst requires her to stay on the field to attack, while her elemental skill can deal passive Electro DMG when she is not on the field.
The Raiden Shogun works great with Eula to trigger Superconduct and decrease the enemies’ physical defenses. Eula’s burst also deals physical damage and can be charged more quickly with the help of the Raiden Shogun. Xingqiu will help provide Hydro support with his Rain Swords and absorb damage for the team. Sara will provide support and increase the team’s ATK. Having two Electro characters will also generate an Electro particle when an Electro reaction is triggered.
Like the previous build, any 5-star weapon will work with Raiden Shogun. The Primordial Jade Winged-Spear provides a boost to Crit Rate and will increase the Raiden Shogun’s ATK when she hits an enemy. You can also use the Skyward Spine to increase Raiden Shogun’s Energy Recharge and a Crit Rate.
For 4-weapons, any of the weapons in the previous build can also work. The Kitain Cross Spear is the new craftable weapon and has a passive in Elemental Mastery. The passive skill boosts Raiden Shogun’s elemental skill damage, while also consuming a bit of energy when she hits an enemy with it. This energy will regenerate over time for the next 6 seconds. The Kitain Cross Spear’s skill also works when the Raiden Shogun is not on the field.
In the early game, either the White Tassel or Halberd will do fine even you get a better weapon. The White Tassel boosts Crit Rate while the Halberd raises ATK.
The best artifact set for Raiden Shogun is the Emblem of Severing Fate. You also have the option of a 2-piece Gladiator Finale/Shimenawa’s Reminiscence and Thundering Fury to give the Raiden Shogun a permanent boost to her ATK and Electro DMG. The 4-piece Thundersoother is another solid choice, giving Raiden Shogun increased Electro resistance and damage against enemies affected by Electro.
In the early game, use a 4-piece The Exile to boost Raiden Shogun’s Energy Recharge and provide additional energy for the team. A 2-piece Scholar and The Exile can also be used to boost her Energy Recharge by 40%.
Artifact stats for Raiden Shogun:
- Sands: ATK% or Energy Recharge (Go for ATK% if you have an Energy Recharge weapon)
- Goblet: Electro DMG%
- Circlet: Crit Rate% or Crit DMG%
For the sub-stats, look for boosts in Crit Rate, Crit DMG, Energy Recharge, and ATK%.
