Ayato is known to be an incredible and beloved leader, but is often busy with his duties and making sure his home is protected. He prefers to work in the shadows, rarely making an appearance in public. Ayato was assigned head of his clan at a young age, making him mature and determined to lead the clan well. He values loyalty and trust above all else.

Ayato’s elemental skill

Ayato’s normal attack, Kamisato Art: Marobashi, will perform 5 rapid slashes with his blade, with the 5th hitting the hardest. His fourth attack will deal damage 2 times. His charge attack will allow him to dash forward and deal damage to the enemy. Compared to his other skills, Ayato’s normal attack does not need to be built if he is focused on his Hydro DMG.

Ayato Elemental Skill

His elemental skill, Kamisato Art: Kyouka, allows him to enter the Takimeguri Kanka state, after dashing and leaving behind a water clone. This water clone will deal Hydro damage to enemies and explode when they are nearby or when its duration end. Both the clone and Takimeguri Kanka state will last for 6 seconds. While Ayato is in the Takimeguri Kanka state, he uses his Shunsuiken to unleash rapid Hydro slashes, causing his normal attack to deal Hydro DMG. This can not be overridden by any other effects. After a Shunsuiken hits the enemy, Ayato will gain a Namisen stack, which will increase the damage he deals based on the number of stacks he has. A maximum of 4 stacks can be obtained at constellation 0 and can be gained every .01 seconds. The damage increase is also scaled off Ayato’s Max HP.

While in Takimeguri Kanka state, Ayato will gain increased resistance to interruptions and will not be able to use plunging or charged attacks until the effects are over. Effects will be cleared if Ayato leaves the field. Ayato’s elemental skill has a cooldown of 12 seconds. Overall, Ayato’s elemental skill will be his main damage dealer, allowing him to deal elemental skill damage that scales off his Max HP. While in this state, his normal attack level becomes useless since his attacks will be scaled off his elemental skill talent level. This talent combined with his burst will allow Ayato to easily apply Hydro to enemies.

burst build ayato
Ayato’s elemental burst

Ayato’s elemental burst, Kamisato Art: Suiyuu, summons Bloomwater Blades to rain down on enemies in a wide range and deal Hydro DMG. While inside the range, characters will also have their normal attack damage increased. This burst lasts 18 seconds and has a cooldown of 20 seconds. It costs 80 energy to cast. Ayato’s burst allows him to support his teammates and himself while applying Hydro to enemies for reactions.

In co-op, Ayato is best used to apply Hydro and deal damage. His burst is capable of increasing his own normal attack damage and his teammates.

Ayato’s passive talent, Kamisato Art: Daily Cooking, allows the player to obtain an additional suspicious dish when he is used to cook it. He shares a similar talent with Hu Tao. This talent will give you one more product without using any more resources, but the effect will be less than the regular version.

His ascension talent 1, Kamisato Art: Michiyuku Hagetsu, regenerates energy if Ayato’s energy is less than 40 and he is not on the field. This talent helps Ayato charge up his burst without being directly on the field. He will store 2 energy for himself every second until he is at 40.

Ascension 4, Kamisato Art: Mine Wo Matoishi Kiyotaki, grants him the maximum amount of Namisen stacks after the clone of his elemental skill explodes. This talent will further increase the damage of his Hydro slashes from his elemental skill.

Ayato Main DPS Build

With Ayato’s elemental skill, his normal attack becomes Hydro DMG and becomes incredibly fast. This build capitalizes on his fast attack speed while dealing Hydro DMG to the enemy. Focus on leveling up his elemental skill and burst.

For his team composition, Chongyun will be used to boost Ayato’s attack speed with high elemental skill and Yun Jin will boost his normal attack damage. The last slot of your team is optional, but should go to a healer like Diona, Bennett, or Barbara.

Ayato recommended 5-star weapon is the Primordial Jade Cutter due to its passive in Crit DMG. This weapon will also boost Ayato’s Max HP, allowing his elemental skill to deal more damage. The Jade Cutter also grants the user increased ATK based on a portion of their Max HP. Another great option for Ayato is the Mistsplitter Reforged. This 5-star weapon boosts Crit DMG and Elemental DMG. Ayato can easily gather all 3 stacks to further boost his elemental damage. The Haran Geppaku Futsu will also work well for this build.

Ayato’s best 4-star weapon is the Black Sword, boosting Crit Rate and his normal/charged attack damage. This weapon can also heal when Ayato lands a critical hit on enemies. The Black Sword does require the battle pass and is not a F2P option. His F2P options are the Iron Sting, Festering Desire, Blackcliff Longsword, and Amenoma Kageuchi. Most of these are craftable, with the Festering Desire being obtained for free during the Dragonspine event.

Ayato should be equipped with the 4-piece Heart of Depth to raise his Hydro DMG and increase his normal attack damage after using his elemental skill. The 4-piece Echoes of an Offering or Gladiator’s Finale will also work for Ayato.

Ayaka will also be used to apply Cryo to enemies while also having the ability to infuse her own normal attack with Cryo. She can be replaced with another Cryo character like Diona if you want a healer on your team. Venti helps trigger Swirl and spread elements to enemies. His burst can also suck up most enemies to keep them in place. He can be replaced with another support character or healer like Xingqiu.

The effects may not always trigger, but the chances of it triggering will be increased the next time Ayato uses his normal attack. The 4-piece Heart of Depth is another great option for Ayato.
